Our Community response to covid

25,000 meals served…and counting

When this pandemic hit our community, it completely disrupted the catering and events industry. As a result, Betty Zlatchin Catering quickly ‘pivoted’ in order to stay afloat and maintain employment for as many industry workers as possible. One of the projects we have been most proud of is our low cost meal service which provides breakfast, lunch and dinner to thousands of low income, homeless and senior residents. Working closely with Community Based Organizations (CBO’s) such as Food Runners, Episcopal Community Services, and SF Safe House as well as non-profit groups like SF New Deal and World Central Kitchen, we have expanded our business model in order to provide low cost, healthy and delicious food for those in need.

Community Based Organizations

In response to the Covid crisis, many non-profit organizations have risen to the occasion to provide nourishment for our most vulnerable citizens. Since March, we have partnered with Food Runners, Episcopal Community Services and SF Safe House, to provide healthy low cost meals for these communities.

SF New Deal

Sponored by the California Great Plates program, SF New Deal was formed to address the current health and economic crisis brought on by COVID-19. They work with local restaurants and caterers to create meals for neighbors in need, providing income for employees and food for our community.

World Central Kitchen

WCK is working across America to safely distribute individually packaged, fresh meals in communities that need support – for children and families to pick up and take home, as well as delivery to seniors who cannot venture outside. To date, WCK has provided over 25 million meals in more than 400 cities.
